In March 2017 the gallery will be showing new works by Michael J Austin, inspired by a recent visit – at the invitation of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales – to the Gulf States of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, as Royal Tour artist, in November 2016. During this Tour (Austin’s second as Royal Tour artist, following a visit to India and Oman in 2003), he was particularly inspired by the figures in and around the local souks, the beauty of the ubiquitous desert camel, and, in Bahrain, by the superb pure-bred Arabian horse, which he was privileged to see at close-quarters.
Alongside these works, Austin will also be showing new landscapes and figurative paintings.
