In July 2017 Jonathan Cooper will be holding the gallery’s first joint show with Jane Wormell and Tom Mabon. Both artists are inspired by and capture the changing British seasons, working in oil on linen in a complimentary yet distinctive style.
Jane Wormell lives and works in North London, painting small, intense studies of the individual plants grown in her garden, in addition to expansive canvases of hedgerows and border flowers. Although botanical in subject, her work is also geometric in focus, exploring the spaces and rhythms formed between each plant.
Tom Mabon has lived on the Black Isle since 1985. His paintings sensitively observe the shifting light, landscape, and wildlife of the Scottish Highlands. Documenting the farming year, Mabon’s work celebrates the fruitful balance between man and nature, depicting the ease with which birds and other wild animals live amidst and alongside us.
The exhibition will be a celebration of the great British countryside, seen through the eyes of two gifted contemporary artists.
