In May 2019 Jonathan Cooper will be holding the gallery’s third solo show with British contemporary painter Nicholas Turner RWA. The exhibition will feature 32 new paintings, including still lifes, landscapes, harbour and street scenes. In this new body of work the artist continues to explore the themes of memory, contemplation, and time.
My reasons for painting are to create images which I hope reflect sensations and feelings that are worthwhile, to communicate without words and with a gentle spirit. I don’t like to plan too closely, preferring a more intuitive spontaneous approach which allows me to delve into the subconscious, and be taken on an unknown journey without any destination in mind.
