Jo Barrett has been working with Fern Verrow, the biodynamic farm in Herefordshire for some time now, and our lower gallery is beginning to show the collaboration to bud.
Her work is subtle and unassuming, addressing the sensibility of a flower to its light, something that does not come without its difficulties. The attention to size in her work speaks volumes of the massive achievements of her practice; not to mention dedication to those who supply & demand such working still life practitioners.
Barrett studied fine art locally at Bath Spa University. Her ‘minimalist’ mood, is a tragic target—meticulously guarded in tool and trade—in fact moreover emerging as a blessing of circumspection, blooming between prudence and care, wanton of nothing short of open creations, alive with potentiality.
Above all the gradation of tone is the stage within which her expanded field of work comes to fruition and functionality: light, life and colour can indeed live in the shadow, although those traits are that which pale in comparison to her emergent, laser-sharp, clarity & vitality.
