In honour of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the garden designer Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, Visit England has declared 2016 the ‘Year of the English Garden’. Jonathan Cooper will be marking this tercentenary with Green and Pleasant Land, an exhibition celebrating the beauty and diversity of the Great British landscape. From the shifting seasons of Tom Mabon’s Black Isle to the verdant abundance of Jane Wormell’s London garden, this exhibition will offer visitors a rich panorama of Britain’s landscape and wildlife through the work of six contemporary painters: Taha Afshar, Roland Corbin, Julia Hawkins, Tom Mabon, Jane Wormell, and John Worthington.
